In September the Rainmakers opened the camping season with a trip to an old favorite... Blue Rocks in Lehartsville, PA.  The Troop cycles it’s trips and destinations so that we don’t go back to the same places often, so it has been several years since we have been there.

Blue Rocks is a unique geological formation known as a glacial “river of rocks” that the boys just love to climb on and over. Our campground was also very close to the Hawk Mountain raptor sanctuary, so we took a side trip to check out the birds.

As happens, the weather was wet and challenged our team-building skills, especially since the plan for Saturday night called for wood cooking on hobo stoves. Everyone pulled through, though, with the Scouts who had fires going in the rain helping those who did not. In the end it was a good trip where everyone learned and our newly reformed Patrols started their trips to become “high-performing teams”.
