October 09

The PLC met on Thursday October 1 before the meeting.

Steve opened by talking about the 4 stages of team development, which are “Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing”. We had a lot of storming on the last trip.  This is to be expected, but we have to want to move to the next stage and do it by communicating better.

The “forming” stage is when the team first comes together.

“Storming” can occur any time there are changes to the team. If the team has not formed up as one and is not ready to take direction from the leader (or even to agree on who the leader is), there will be storming. John remionded us that a team can fall back to storming at any point.

“Norming” is when the team starts to pull together in the same direction. Each Patrol and the Troop as a whole has to make the decision that they want to do better and work together to move us out of storming and into norming.

“Performing” is where we want to be. But if we are not careful, we can slip right back to “Storming”

We also ran a “Start-Stop-Continue” discussion on the last trip. We generally agreed that:

1) The last trip was over programmed and we tried to pack too much in

2) Everyone has to come together better to listen to our own elected leaders

The meeting plan for the next month was decided and is attached. All Patrols were represented at the PLC.
