Oct 06 Harriman

Because of the way that the schedule worked out, we couldn’t take an overnight in October, so we hiked a great day trail through Harriman Interstate Park.  We explored Claudius Smiths Den, where this infamous horse thief and his gang hid out in the 1700’s, and then hiked our way along great views of Fall foliage.

Historian Michael Reports:

On this all day hike we did many things. We got a little lesson in the middle of a field surrounded by cliffs.  Matt B found a tiny snake and a toad in the leaves.  Vic fell asleep on a rock and Charles mades some of us “taste” an acorn.  It was very bitter. We found multiple caves and cracked codes. We even met some friendly dogs.  The best part was the great views.
