We had Camp Strang all to ourselves, and it was only 20 minutes or so from the park where we hiked.
We had beautiful weather this weekend, although it was very very windy Saturday night. Everyone got to hike the falls and climb and see all the beautiful views. We did 8 miles on the mountain and those who needed did the compass bearing requirement while we were there. It is a beautiful park on the CT/MASS/Ny border and we can all now say we did hike part of the Appalachian Trail. Paul B. did a great job leading all the scouts in the mountains.Everyone has also now learned the importance of packing enough socks, sweatshirts etc, since we did give out a number of those too.
We also worked on Fire Man chit on Sunday with all the Gremlins and Theo F. worked with a number of the others on various first aid rank requirements. All were told to read up in their books on some of these things so they can work further at the next meeting. Everyone also learned how to make coffee can ice cream, which they all enjoyed eating. We had a number of scouts who had never been on a tent trip with us, and they all did very well and learned all kinds of things.
