Mar-Deer Lake

Our March trip was the first camping experience for our two New Scout Patrols, the Flying Snakes and The Phoenix Patrols (pictured above).  We stayed in a great cabin at Deer Lake in Connecticutt and the weather was just spectatcular. Everyone came homefrom this trip tired, becasue thwere was just so much going on!

On Saturday morning th eolder Scouts learned how to go rappelling, and the newer Scoutsa went on a hike. Then in the afternoon we had the Troop 189 “Race to the North Pole”, an interpatrol competition where Patrols competed with a map and compass to see who could reach the northern boundary of the camp first, stopping to negotiate challenegs to their Scout Skills along the way. Saturday night the Unicorn PAtrol hosted a troop campfire.

The weekend was a lot of fun... special thanks to the Adult Leaders who made it possible: SM Steve, ASMs Mike, Ed, Art, Larry, Theo, Mike and Committee Members Andrea, Kathy, Bonnie, Paul, Charles, and John.
