Sea Base & Jamboree

July marked a special place in our Troop’s growth when we participated in two sets of National Adventures.  The month started when we sent off our first Scout since our recharter to one of Scoutings National High Adventure Bases.

Cobra’s Patrol Leader (and former SPL) Andrew I flew to Miami to join Troop 109 from Greensboro, NC on a week-long Coral Reef Sailing expedition through the Lower Florida Keys.  Unfortunately the “luck of the Rainmakers” held... and within a day of their arrival National Sea Base was evacuated from the direct path of Hurricane Dennis! Our special thanks to our new Brothers in Scouting, Troop 109! The boys hope to try again over the Winter....

The month ended with members of Troop 189 visiting the National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia. Scoutmaster Mike, CM Andrea, QM Justin, and Scouts Zach and Alex made the trip for the weekend that fell in the middle of the Jamboree... the first Troop 189 Scouts to visit a Jamboree in 24 years.

They all had a great time, and had no problems.  Here’s a picture of them at one of the Army National Guard booths.
