Sunday March 30 was a very exciting day for our Troop as we celebrated out first Eagle Scout in 25 years!
We are all very proud of all of Andrew’s accomplishments, and the afternoon was memorable from the opening to the last notes of Vespers from the OSR staff and then from Evan’s bugle. Many dignitaries were in attendance including representatives from our elected officials, local, state, and federal, as well as from civic and Scouting groups. The highlights included Brigadier General Bucaria from the New York Guard and 4 of the original Eagle Scouts from the first Troop 189, who came back home to Wantagh for the day.
Drew’s sister Meryl sang a spectacular acapella version of the National Anthem, and everyone was captivated by Drew’s fellow dancers from Crew 182; the Silver Hawk Dancers who made a special set of Eagle Dancer wings just for the ceremony.
Our own SPL Josh was the Master of Ceremonies, and did an amazing job. For a sense of what the day was like, click the photos below or click on the Eagle medal to see the story of Drew’s Scouting Trail to Eagle.
