Deer Lake Feb/Mar

The troop camped at Deer Lake in Connecticut February 29 - March 2.  This was the first trip for the new members of the Phoenix Patrol, who had 6 members (plus their Guide John) on the trip.

It snowed on us Friday night, and even though we had a nice warm cabin, Michael and Alex pitched a tent outside so that Michael could get one more night towards his camping merit badge. They used one of the new 2-man tents that we are testing and liked it a lot. Scoutmaster Steve also spent the night out in his tent along with them.

On Saturday morning the older Scouts in each Patrol conducted skills classes and the newer guys rotated. Congratulations to Max, who finished off both Tenderfoot and Second Class on Saturday! After lunch we explored the camp with compasses and after dinner Saturday night we had a big campfire. Sunday morning we packed up, and went on a hike before we came home.
