Clear Lake is one of the most beautiful places we camp... and this year we were lucky enough to finally get site #40, right on the lake! We arrived Friday night and had to make two trips to hike into the campsite... one trip with backpacks and then one trip with all of the Troop gear. After setting up the tents by flashlight, it was time for bed! There was a little rain during the night, but nothing much.
Saturday morning after breakfast we split into two groups, the Gremlins and a combined Eagle-Cobra patrol dubbed the “Creagles”. We set off on a 5 mile hike around the perimeter and into state land in Fahnstock state Park, with magnificent views of the lakes and the countryside.
We did have a storm front blow through right after lunch, and we all learned that you need to peg down the corners of your tent so it doesn’t blow away with you inside of it! There was time in the afternoon for advancement and just plain downtime, and then it was dinner. ASM Steve made tin-can stew for the Leaders, the Gremlins had Chicken Parm, and the Creagles had steak and pasta. Everyone was so tired out from the day that after just a few rounds of playing “Infiltration” everyone turned in for an early night.
Sunday we packed up and did our two trips down to the parking lot... and then homeward bound...
